Water Damage from Your Washing Machine

Washing Machine Damage

Washing machines have been the cause of countless water losses and mold in homes.  SERVPRO responds to dozens of water and mold losses monthly.

On a recent call, SERVPRO responded to an owner whose washing machine leaked into the floor and to the room immediately below causing extensive damage to the floors, drywall, and insulation.  As a rule, every home owner should make a regular habit of checking the drain and hoses from their washing machine to ensure they are dry.

Hard water buildup on the hoses and fittings can also lead to water issues as it is a sign there is damage to the hardware.  In addition to the hoses, look for water on the floor surrounding your machine to ensure the machine it’s self is not leaking.
