The recent Deer Park fire that burned nearly 20,000 acres north of Menan and put several homes on evacuation was a clear reminder that disaster can strike at any time. This time of year, poses and an even greater threat because of hot dry conditions. Those conditions can turn brush around your home into tinder that can increase your chances of fire, especially if you live in a rural area with natural habitat surrounding your home.
